A 600-year-old Bohemian noble family is welcoming the latest passion in the world of crypto and art, and hopes the NFTs can pay for the restoration of their artwork collection and ancestral castle.
The Lubkovic family of the Czech Republic – that supported Beethoven before, lost everything to the Nazis and Communists and after that got back their castles and artworks in the 1990s after the fall of communism – will auction numerous NFTs and will hold a conference next month in Prague at the Lubkovic Palace, from where you can view the whole city.
The family is wishing to hold a trend that has blown up over the past year, where digital documents that perform as evidence of ownership of something, whether it is physical or digital — have sold for millions of dollars. One NFT for sale will show an animated piece showing degradation and restoration of a panel of scrafitto of Hercules on a wall of the Nelahozeves Castle, one of the family’s four properties in or near Prague.
