Compared to traditional games, NFT games are better, Avrit Goel

The gaming business has been around for a long time. But when blockchain technology and NFT came along, there were big changes in the industry. Right now, a lot is going on in the business world. Game developers are setting up stores on the blockchain.

People can make money by playing video games now, but it’s not the kind of money you can spend. But if you win, you might get real money. Aside from that, these creative games use the NFT idea to let players sell their in-game items.

The business development manager at Polygon, Urvit Goel, was happy to hear that blockchain-based games have all of these features. Urvit says, though, that traditional games have lost ground to games that use NFT.

Traditional games haven’t done as well as NFT games

Last week, Goel talked about his ideas with a reliable source. This conversation, which took place in Seoul, is about why Polygon promotes NFT games and why many game developers now choose the space. The business development manager said that Nexon and Neowiz, two well-known South Korean publishers, are at the front of this trend.

Goel says that traditional games are not as interesting as the NFT game paradigm. For example, many traditional gamers buy in-game items with money from the real world.

They can’t, though, resell the same items for real money if they need to. But since the NFT model has been added, players can buy their stuff as NFT tokens and then sell them after the game to get their money back.

Goel pointed out that most games are a “zero-sum game” because of this. He thinks that players should be able to make money from the money they spend on video games. He thinks that publishers should give players some say over what they can do in games. They may sell them or keep them, depending on what they need.

Game publishers are being replaced by NFTs

Goel also noticed that publishers of traditional games are thinking about moving to NFTs. He talked about Nexon, a well-known MapleStory publisher in South Korea that is now shifting its focus to GameFi.

Nexon told a gaming news site two months ago that there will be an on-chain version of MapleStory. Polygon is also working with Neowiz, a South Korean entrepreneur who started a game company that is now on-chain.
