The renowned American contemporary artist, Leo Villarreal will present his initial NFT series in the current month on the productive Art platform, Art Blocks. Villarreal is best known for his work with LEDs to create light sculptures. The series goes live on Art Blocks on January 24 at 1:00 pm Eastern Time.
“Leo Villarreal’s work has inspired me for many years, both in my creative work and as the founder of Art Blocks,” stated Eric Calderon, founder of Art Blocks. The platform was actually intended as a way to enable people to collaborate with digital art using blockchain technology, so the importance of working with Leo to publish his work on Art Blocks is very modest and surreal, and I’m delighted to see this work born in this media.”
Leo Villareal’s project “Cosmic Reef” contains 1024 digital works. This is his initial work to be available in “purely digital form”. Inspired by the endless set of sequences in nature, Cosmic Reef NFTs are a reflection of the beauty and symmetry of being random in nature. At the time that the NFTs launch with simple geometry, they immediately become complicated. In addition, the components are made up of dynamic layers created from a mixture of human control and computations.
Leo Villareal uses three.js, a JavaScript library for 3D objects, to code the NFT artwork. In total, he used 100 different parameters to create algorithmic components. The result is fully special NFTs with different mixtures of geometry, color, composition and light.
