To make the shift from NFTs to wider licensing and products, Cool Cats has partnered up with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Other high-profile NFT ventures, like Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cryptopunks, and World of Women, have all made similar moves in recent months.
About the CAA move
Owners of Cool Cats now have a non-exclusive license to utilize their photos for a variety of commercial purposes, including product manufacturing. Cool Cats’ creators, on the other hand, retain ownership of the whole intellectual property and have the right to use the images.
The Cool Cats idea has now partnered with CAA to look into licensing and retail possibilities. In the future, this may include animated material and brand partnerships, among other things.
The Hollywood Reporter quoted Cool Cats artist ‘Clon’ as saying, “The atmosphere we’re developing is full of imagination and tons of things to discover.” “Rather than simply a JPEG, it’ll be more of an experience.”
This arrangement between Cool Cats and CAA is similar to one signed by Larva Labs, the creators of Cryptopunks and Meebits, with United Talent Agency (UTA) in August to expose the NFTs to other entertainment media. It’s unclear what will happen with the Cryptopunks and Meebits sold to Yuga Labs deal.
In addition to Cool Cats, CAA has signed an arrangement with the unknown NFT collector 0xb1. They’ve also signed deals with A-list celebrities like Beyonce and Shakira.
What are cool cats?
Cool Cats is an NFT project that began in July 2021 and has already been certified as blue-chip. There were 9,999 Cool Cats in the first generation of NFTs, and later secondary collections have been released under the Cool Cats name. In July, former boxing champion Mike Tyson popularized the concept when he changed his Twitter profile picture to Cool Cats #2724. On Facebook, he has around 5 million fans. At the time of writing, the floor price was about 1-1.5 ETH.
Since its debut, Cool Cats has earned tremendous praise, and it is generally recognized as many people’s favorite NFT collection. The project’s OpenSea floor price is 9.39 ETH, or $29,000, at the time of writing.
