Decentraland To Host The First-Ever Metaverse Marathon

Decentraland To Host The First-Ever Metaverse Marathon

Next week, Decentraland will host the metaverse’s inaugural marathon, in conjunction with Degree. The “Degree Metathon” will begin on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 p.m. UTC at Genesis Plaza in Decentraland and end on Saturday, April 27 at 10 p.m. UTC.

The marathon’s first goal is to foster a more inclusive Decentraland movement. Everyone should be allowed to wander freely in both the virtual and actual worlds, according to the idea. On that topic, Degree has created a wheelchair-accessible racing track that is compatible with adapted technology.

Aside from that, runners get the option to compete against well-known athletes and celebrities. Paralympian Blake Leeper, para-snowboarder Amy Purdy, professional footballer Hector Herrera, and rapper Fat Joe are among the members of this club. You’ll read about their inspiring experiences to overcome mobility barriers during the marathon in Decentraland.

Indeed, as the metaverse grows in size, inclusion has become a major concern. The good news is that Decentraland has always advocated for many types of inclusiveness. Earlier this month, the site joined up with Closeup to host a metaverse wedding. This is especially true for couples who are unable to marry in a traditional setting. Decentraland hosted a spectacular fashion week in March that included the world’s top fashion and beauty companies. Fashionistas enjoyed the time of their life during the event. Without a doubt, the next virtual marathon will help Decentraland expand its range of inclusion.
