Delta Air Lines and Starbucks are starting a loyalty Collaboration


Members of both Delta SkyMiles and Starbucks Rewards can link their accounts to receive one mile for every dollar spent at Starbucks and double Stars on days they travel on Delta.

ATLANTA AND SEATTLE, October 12, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)— Today, Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) and Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ: SBUX) announced a strategic partnership that will give members of Delta SkyMiles and Starbucks Rewards, two of America’s most popular loyalty programmes, even more ways to earn rewards at Delta and Starbucks.

Beginning on October 12, customers in the United States who are members of both the Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles loyalty programmes can easily link their accounts by going to either or Once the accounts are linked, users may start earning miles for every dollar they spend at Starbucks, and on days when they have a scheduled flight with Delta, they can start earning double Stars for every dollar they spend at participating Starbucks locations2. Rich Bonuses and Additional Benefits

Millions of Starbucks Rewards members and Delta SkyMiles members find it easy to get free coffee and miles. Customers who link their accounts between October 12 and December 31, 2022, will get 500 miles3 and 150 Stars after making or having made a qualifying purchase. They will also get one mile for every $1 spent on qualifying purchases at Starbucks, and they will get double Stars at participating Starbucks stores on days when there is a scheduled Delta flight.

Delta SkyMiles is also letting its most loyal and coffee-loving members know that Starbucks Stars will be added as an amazing new Choosing Benefit. Diamond and Platinum SkyMiles Members will be able to choose 4,000 Stars as one of their annual Choice Benefits in 2024. This is in addition to the new set of Choice Benefits that were announced last week.

To celebrate the start of the collaboration, Delta customers on flights leaving Seattle on Oct. 12 will get a “Star Card” good for 150 Stars that they can use at their next Starbucks visit to buy a handcrafted beverage.

Two Loyalty Programs with a History

Reward Together is a program that enables Starbucks Rewards members to connect their accounts with some of the world’s top brands’ loyalty programs, introducing additional advantages and ways to earn Stars that were not previously possible. Reward Together was introduced by Starbucks earlier this year. By providing worthwhile incentives and making it simpler for users to sign up, the firm hopes to raise awareness of Starbucks Rewards, boost its growth, and attract new members through these loyalty relationships. In 2021 and 2022, respectively, Starbucks Canada formed collaborations with a travel partner and a banking institution to link accounts. In this arrangement, Delta is Starbucks’ first U.S. partner.

The Starbucks Rewards program, which started in 2009 and is the best in its field, keeps getting more and more popular. Delta’s SkyMiles program continues to be the best in the industry by adding features that are firsts for the industry, such as the ability to earn toward Status on Award Travel, the ability for any Member to earn unlimited miles on tickets, and the ability to upgrade to a better seat on both domestic and international flights. With partnerships with companies like Instacart, which is the biggest online grocery store in the U.S., Turo, which is the biggest peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace in the world, and Lyft, which is one of the biggest transportation networks in the U.S., Delta is making it easy to earn miles toward travel with even more purchases.

According to a recent report from U.S. News & World Report, Delta’s SkyMiles program topped all international airlines in the publication’s annual ranking of airline loyalty programs for the sixth consecutive year. The ease of obtaining a free round-trip flight, additional perks, network coverage, flight volume, and airline quality ratings are the five factors that U.S. News considers when ranking airlines.

Users can still advantage from popular features of Delta SkyMiles, including never-expiring points, no blackout dates for Award tickets on any Delta Air Lines flight, and industry-leading Medallion benefits like free Delta One upgrades on domestic flights.
