A collection of five non-fungible tokens by digital artist FEWOCiOUS has sold for $2.16 million in a sale directed by auction house Christie’s.
The collection of NFTs, titled” Hello, I’m Victor (FEWOCIOUS) and this is my life,” was inspired by the 18-year-old artist’s experiences of growing up in an abusive household as a transgender man, with each of the NFTs chronicling a different year in his starting at age 14.
The sale was live from June 23 to June 30 and gained bids from more than 20 collectors. Who had the choice to pay in either ether or bitcoin.
Apart from having an NFT from the collection, all purchasers who succeed, will get the chance to meet FEWCIOUS in- person and will get the physical painting as well.
After the successful auction, FEWOCIOUS posted an emotional video to Twitter thanking his fans. He said so in his tweet:
“ At a loss for words right now, thank you so much to everyone for making me feel so loved, believing in my art and believing in me, it means the world. I’ll never forget this feeling or these last few weeks.”
Whereas FEWOCIOUS is renowned for his signature use of dynamic and energetic colors, as well as the twisted out of shape, unreal proportions in his artwork, a large number in the NFT community, specially younger, developing artists, have considered him as a source of motivation and encouragement in their own jobs.
