First NFT Project on Oasys with Creator of Virtua Fighter and Shenmue

First NFT Project on Oasys with Creator of Virtua Fighter and Shenmue

Oasys, a gaming-optimized blockchain designed by gamers for gamers, unveils the launch of OASYX, the first NFT project built on Oasys’ native blockchain, in conjunction with Yu Suzuki, a critically recognized game development executive.

OASYX will develop a variety of NFTs in partnership with established creators, artists, and developers from traditional gaming businesses. At debut, OASYX’s first series of NFTs will be creatively supervised by Suzuki and released by double leap, a Japanese blockchain game company.

Suzuki is known for being one of the first individuals to create video games, and he led SEGA’s research and development team for a long time. He has been a big part of both technological and cultural change in the Japanese gaming industry. He is best known for making some of SEGA’s best arcade games, like the Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, and Shenmue series. Suzuki was one of the most important people in the gaming industry. He was the sixth person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, and in 2011, he received a Pioneer Award from the Game Developers Choice Awards for his lasting contributions and effects on the gaming industry around the world. IGN has a list of the Top 100 Game Creators of All Time. Suzuki is #9 on that list.

Suzuki and GODTAIL, a multi-talented Japanese digital designer responsible for various anime-themed artworks and designs, will manage the general theme and art direction of OASYX’s debut NFT series. The first series will comprise the free release of 10,000 original characters that will serve as the foundation for future metaverse avatars. In subsequent series, OASYX intends to bring a greater variety of NFTs with more use cases, such as new characters, fashion items, and in-game devices. OASYX’s NFT grants holders entry to OASYS’ wide ecosystem, providing them with extensive utility. This covers upcoming collaborations with famous game projects once they join Oasys.

Daiki Moriyama, Director, Oasys, said: “As the Oasys ecosystem grows from strength to strength, we’re excited to debut the blockchain’s first-ever NFT project, centred on collaborations with a legendary game developer in Yu Suzuki. We look forward to bringing on more exceptional icons in our industry as we pave the way forward for the mainstream adoption of NFTs and blockchain gaming, with OASYX serving as an important catalyst.”

Yu Suzuki added: “As the first NFT project on the Oasys chain, in which SEGA, Bandai Namco, Square Enix and other leading game developers are participating, we expect OASYX to provide a runway for the success of NFTs in the near future. We also believe that the management of world building in its nascent stages has meaningful value for both myself and this industry, and OASYX is primed to be a major initiative in finding original value in digital data.”

The release of OASYX brings to a close a remarkable year for Oasys, whose significant achievements include the conclusion of a public token sale, a strategic fundraising round, and a private token sale for USD20 million. Oasys is also in the final phase of its Mainnet launch, which was announced for the first time in October 2022.

Oasys, whose investors include Square Enix, Bandai Namco Research, Ubisoft, Netmarble, WeMade, Mythical Games, Com2uS, and Yield Guild Games, continues to expand its ecosystem and enhance user experiences in order to define the future generation of gaming.
