Renowned Ghanaian artist Kojo Marfo has revealed the upcoming announcement of his initial NFT series. The series comes in cooperation with the JD Malat Gallery in London and will be minted in April 2022.
Born in 1980, the London-based artist is known for his work which draws elements from traditional Ghanaian art, Picasso, and postmodernism. In fact, Kojo Marfo developed his interest in visual arts and culture via the art which he was at risk of as a child in Ghana. In particular, the traditional Akan artifacts, sculptures, and carvings which play a major role in the country’s culture.
Kojo Marfo sees art as a communication tool which he uses to use his creativity. Likewise, he uses his art to feature essential social issues, such as inequality, religion, politics, and spirituality. Therefore, Marfo’s NFTs will be a way to share these messages with a huge audience. Noticeably, the proceeds from the sale of NFT are donated to charity to aid people in dangerous situations
In addition, Marfo’s future NFTs are a natural extension of his work ethic as he enters this exciting new development in the art world. Likewise, as the artist’s first NFT, this series attracts attention to the current development of society.
As mentioned before, Kojo Marfo will release the NFTs thanks to JD Malat Gallery. JD Malat initially started representing Kojo Marfo in 2020. In the same year he held his initial solo exhibition. While JD Malat exclusively represents Kojo Marfo and showcases his physical art, the NFTs open his work to more people.
Overall, the release shows how NFTs have attracted the attention of world-renowned artists. We have already seen NFT versions of physical art from top creators such as Banksy and Andy Warhol. Reviving Kojo Marfo’s inspiring work as NFTs is definitely an interesting idea.
