Maybe it’s only rumors, but GTA 6, the latest edition of the Grand Theft Auto game, may be published in 2024, with a cryptocurrency reward system.
The leak concerning GTA 6 releasing in 2024 and adding cryptocurrency
According to a leak, Grand Theft Auto 6, the upcoming GTA installment whose official release date is still uncertain, may integrate Bitcoin-style cryptocurrency in its gameplay. According to rumors, gamers will be able to earn and exchange this cryptocurrency.
“GTA 6 leaks suggest the story will take place in Columbia / Miami and will include in-game cryptocurrency rewards for players to earn and trade”.
Back in 2013, when GTA 5 was launched, players could join the world of financial markets by connecting to the BAWSAQ and LCN Exchange through their smartphone’s Internet connection and selling and buying shares on the exchange.
Not only that, but Lester’s “Stock Market Assassination Missions” allow gamers to earn money.
With recent reports regarding the release of GTA 6 in 2024 (date to be confirmed), it seems that there may be new methods to make money with cryptocurrency.
GTA 6: “active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”
While it looks to be a rumor leak, a confirmation came straight from Rockstar Games, which claimed as early as last February:
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details”.
Essentially, Rockstar Games confirmed to its audience that the new GTA 6 exists and is under production, but no more information have been released since then.
Who knows whether this leak will lead the New York-based American video game publisher to issue confirmations or cancellations.
Play-to-earn crypto games
The advent of cryptocurrency and the Play-2-Earn formula is now widely recognized in the gaming sector, so much so that it has turned the industry from a pure pastime to an additional income option.
A Crypto Head research graded crypto play-to-earn games based on a variety of criteria.
Axie Infinity leads by market capitalization with $16 billion, followed by Cross Link with $13 billion, and Decentraland in third place (metaverse on Blockchain).
According to online search statistics, the game produced by the Vietnamese business Sky Mavis looks to be the most popular, with over 29 million searches globally. Splinterlands and Bomb Crypt are just behind it.
