Kraft Heinz is planning to use the metaverse to solve its supply issues

Food and beverage giant, Kraft Heinz, is setting up to use the metaverse to solve its supply chain problems. The idea is to have Lunchables, Velveeta, and ketchup on the shelves quicker and in turn, deliver them to customers. Therefore, the American company cooperated with Microsoft the previous month to use its cloud platform to help the company virtually reproduce its supply lines.

“We are truly committed to supporting our customers in what we call the industrial metaverse,” Lorraine Bardeen, chief technology officer of Microsoft Industry Solutions, said to CNN. “This means that Kraft Heinz can make their products available to consumers quicker.

The way Kraft Heinz’s metaverse plans to work

As reported by Carlos Abrams-Rivera, head of Kraft Heinz in North America, some of the company’s products were “trapped” in its logistics system during epidemic quarantines. To sustain this, the company has created a “digital twin” model of its supply chain in the metaverse.

To clarify, the digital model will help the company to solve its problems digitally. Thus, Kraft Heinz can anticipate and avoid any similar lockdown issues in the future. Besides, it will be able to automate and speed up the process as demand increases.

Thus, how perfectly will Kraft Heinz gain this? The digital twins will allow the company to “map the whole factory to see the best flow.” A kraft factory produces a wide range of products, from ketchup to vinegar and so on. Hence, a virtual mapping of a producing facility enables the company to better identify any defects.

In addition, the model could even help the company to detect errors in early. Overall, what Kraft Heinz is doing is another great example of what metaverses can provide, besides gaming and NFTs.
