PMG’s Meltwater Champions Chess Tour is entering The Sandbox metaverse. Animoca Brands and Play Magnus Group has signed a collaboration to bring the tournament, and other pieces in the PMG chess ecosystem to the blockchain. Lympo, an assisstant of Animoca Brands, is leading the project and will eventually make metaverse chess a reality.

Chess, one of the fastest growing e-sports, is sure to help the NFT mainstream. The large number of expert and casual players, followers and supporters will shortly be able to enjoy a much more attractive experience via the metaverse.

Lympo’s roadmap contains different attractive projects for the development of metaverse Chess. In the first stage, they will concentrate on bringing the match to The Sandbox. The tournament will contain social tokens for fans to connect with their favorite players. Holders will be qualified to engage in voting sessions, raffles, questionnaire, and surveys as well.
Besides, the sports NFT platform will generate custom-designed and animated NFT series’ illustrating supreme chess players like Magnus Carlsen, Anish Giri, and Hans Niemann. These unique NFT digital collectible cards will combine with Lympo’s NFT ecosystem, and provide extra utility.

While both companies are working on a blockchain chess-inspired game found on the tournament, PMG has plans to generate virtual experiences in The Sandbox’s open metaverse as well.
