Namewee, a Malaysian singer living in Taipei, became a millionaire overnight via the sale of his NFT comedy song ‘Fragile’. This song is a duet with Australian artist Kimberly Chen. Namewee announced it as a series of 100 NFTs on Opensea. It became very popular and sold within a few hours and recorded sales of 209 ETH.
Moreover, the artist produced a song called ‘Go NFT’, that is a song dedicated to NFTs, in a separate series of 100 NFTs. Overall, there are 200 Namewee NFTs.
One of the reasons NameWee uses NFTs to promote his music is that no one can take them down. “Definitely not China, they can’t destroy anything whenever they want.” The artist noted.
NameWee has promised to keep ETH and not turn it into cash. He said in a Facebook post: “No matter how much money I make, it goes around in the virtual world forever.”
