Takashi and the Crown Collection teamed with rtfktstudios to create four limited-edition Clone X chains. They will only be accessible to Murakami and the RTFKT team. RTFKT has previously worked together.
When one thinks about contemporary Japanese art, Takashi Murakami almost definitely comes to mind first. The artist is always pushing the boundaries of high and low art, and his work often crosses the border between fine and commercial art. His vibrantly colored designs have captured a diverse audience, ranging from art collectors to streetwear lovers. Murakami’s most recent collaboration is with the virtual fashion collective RTFKT on their forthcoming NFT avatar project, “CLONE X.” RTFKT was formed by three friends during the Covid-19 outbreak to create virtual fashion goods and artifacts via the use of digital technologies like as gaming engines, near-field communication (NFT), blockchain verification, and augmented reality. They are most known for their viral sneaker designs, which started with the ‘CYBERSNEAKER,’ which was transformed to look like Elon Musk at the 2018 MET Gala.
Well-known Japanese artist Takashi Murakami together with RTFKT Studios and Crown series release CloneX chains. These chains will be limited edition and are just available to Murakami and the RTFKT group.
Murakami’s recent partnership was with RTFKT Studios. They released a NFT avatar project named CloneX that is a big success. For example, a rare CloneX NFT sold for 450 ETH or $1.25 million at the time of the transaction. The vibrant NFT series peaked and reached the blue-chip NFT status less than one year after its release.
To celebrate the collaboration, Steven Zaptoi, CEO and co-founder of RTFKT, was looking for Ryan Rehbock of Crown Collection to create the CloneX chains.
The chains are a bit like the ones worn by some of the 3D characters from the CloneX NFT series. The 18-carat white gold Miami Cuban chain lock is the signature of the Murakami flower motif. On the other side is the RTFKT logo in an animated Murakami signature art style.
Rehbock used natural gemstones like blue and purple topaz, pink sapphire, and ruby. A precise enamel work surrounds the wonderful gemstones, creating a significant detail for the chain.
Plus the CloneX chain, a large-scale sculpture piece of the RTFKT style design also celebrates the fruitful collaboration. Murakami fans can see the sculpture at Gagosian, New York City on May 11, 2022, during Murakami’s three-part exhibition “An Arrow Through History.”
