The NFT collection of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) revealed on Tuesday that it has contributed $1 million to the nation of Ukraine’s official Ethereum wallet address, according to a press release.
Using its Twitter account, the NFT collection tweeted the information along with a transaction link from the Etherscan blockchain, which showed that it had contributed 388.999 ETH (a little more than $1 million) after being motivated by donations from its community members.
According to the OpenSea marketplace’s statistics, the BAYC is now the second-largest NFT collection of all time, with approximately 417,000 ETH ($1 billion) in secondary sales to its credit as of December 2017.
Several different Web3 groups, ranging from decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to memecoin holders to non-fungible token (NFT) collectors, have launched projects and activities aimed at helping to Ukraine’s disaster aid.
In all, Ukraine has received more than $88 million in cryptocurrency contributions to far, according to statistics compiled by Merkle Science, and the Ukrainian government presently owns around $7 million in Ethereum in its cryptocurrency wallet.
