It was Propy’s first sale in the United States on February 8.
There were more than 3,000 people who wanted to buy the Florida home. It sold for $653,163 or 210 ETH. Founder Natalia Karayaneva made a statement: “This is only the first deal in our pipeline, and we’re seeing a lot of interest.”
The fact that the owner gets a digital proof of ownership as part of the contract attracted attention to the sale. The Tampa Bay Times says that Leslie Alessandra, the founder of the crypto company DeFi Limited, used to own the house. Among other things, a condo in Florida will be sold at the same price and with the same terms.
Smart contracts are made on Propy, a platform that works with the Ethereum blockchain. A record of the acquisition is kept on the chain, and users can look at documents that show that the item is theirs. In an interview with The Block, Karayaneva said that Propy’s goal is to spread this technology around the world.
Propy made it possible for the first time in Ukraine in 2021 to sell a home through NFT. The company has also raised more than $16 million in venture capital so far, with Tim Draper and Michael Arrington among its backers.
