ViewSonic offers education to the metaverse

ViewSonic, the global provider of visual solutions, will introduce its “UNIVERSE” at the ISTE Live 22 Conference and Exhibition from June 27-29, bringing the education sector to the metaverse. UNIVERSE by ViewSonic is a full-scale educational platform in which classes are held in an attractive virtual 3D environment.

The Director of UNIVERSE, Kevin Chu, stated that the epidemic has forced the education industry to innovate. The ViewSonic’s team designed the UNIVERSE platform for extracurricular learning experiences and developed tools to assist educators.

Some of these instructor tools contain the ability to create pop tests, two different modes for class management, and detailed learning reports which show each student’s level of interaction after class. The team also designed the platform with students in mind.

For example, there are three areas of learning: classrooms, lecture halls, and participatory spaces. Students can communicate through auditory and non-auditory methods. Regarding listening techniques, students can use speech, that the program moves according to distance. That is to say, the farther the speaker is, the softer the sound will be. Some non-auditory communication methods have emojis.

Part of UNIVERSE’s target is to create a secure digital environment for students to learn. The goal is not just to learn books, but to feel comfortable enough to build meaningful relationships. The training platform is currently in beta mode and there is no public timeline for its full release.

More companies that use virtual reality for several needs

Virtual reality, one of the vital technologies needed for the metaverse, apparently become more famous this year. As were reported in different new, more and more companies are using this technology for a variety of reasons. Here are the top three stories about VR from 2022.

Last week, Meta revealed that it collaborated with Fender and MINI, a BMW company. Both organizations created virtual reality experiences in Meta’s Horizon Worlds, which took advantage of several human senses.

And last month, Airbus reported that it uses virtual reality to sell luxury private jets. Using the nascent tech, users can rearrange furniture, add a bathroom with a shower, and create a great window seat.

Eventually, two months ago, Disney announced that it had collaborated with Meta for a Star War VR experience. The action-adventure quest involved users taking on two various roles, containing one in Batuu. Participants got IRL awards for completing the quest.

Time will tell how people get UNIVERSE through ViewSonic, but one thing certain: the metaverse is on the rise.
