Previous baseball star, Willie Mays, is planning to release an NFT series through the popular platform, Nifty Gateway. This will be done in cooperation with the Costas collection. It starts on (October 24th) and the funds will be given to the Say Hey Foundation. In addition, he rebuilt the baseball facility in Rickwood Field, the place he began his career.
Willie Mays’s first NFT drop on Nifty Gateway will consider his MLB story and the journey he made to get there, and his rookie year in New York the place he won the 1951 MLB Rookie of the Year. This collection of NFTs will display the statistics where Mays was translating into an MLB superstar at the time. In addition, it will contain personal documents and images which have not been shown in the past.
The creator of Costas series, Joan Costacos stated: “Willie, the most humble Goat you will ever see, asked us to concentrate not on his 24 All-Star Games, 2 MVP prizes, World collection victory in ‘54, his 12 Gold Gloved, but he considers this as a special chance to communicate with the legend through a unique digital art supporting the Say Hey Foundation.”
