WWE’s New NFT Collection enters into the Ring

Following NBA Top Shot and UFC Strike, the WWE, in cooperation with Blockchain Creative Labs (BCL), launched its own NFT marketplace on May 27. The first album will be published on June 3, according to the most recent reports.

The collection is anticipated to feature over 10,000 limited-edition “NFT Flip” goods, providing clients with several possibilities. All will be offered in three-packs for $30 in either fiat cash or cryptocurrency.

In consideration of the supporters

This drop, named after one of wrestling’s most spectacular techniques, attempts to capture the hearts of longtime fans of the sport-entertainment hybrid.

Each NFT Flip will feature a WWE Superstar involved with Sunday night’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Following the event, each NFT Flip will transform into a 10- to 20-second video montage of the featured Superstar. Due to the event’s 25-year history, it is impossible for fans to predict what momentous occasion their NFT Flip will reflect.

The WWE intends to do further Moonsault drops in connection with future pay-per-views. The WWE and BCL offered a free Moonsault Genesis NFT to the first 10,000 persons to create a wallet on the marketplace, which were all claimed within a few hours of the announcement.

After this initial release, fans won’t have to worry about FOMO since at least four more are scheduled for the rest of the year.

Long-term planning

WWE's New NFT Collection enters into the Ring

The WWE’s planned release structure is likely the most notable aspect of their future plans in the NFT arena. Syncing their drops with pay-per-view events prevents them from oversaturating the NFT market and undermining the value of their collections, a situation that NBA Top Shot collectors are all too aware with.

Ultimately, if you see these collections primarily as an investment, enthusiasm will only get you so far.

However, the WWE is unlikely to be the last sports ‘league’ to join the booming NFT collectibles industry, considering the NBA’s continued forays into the market and the prevalence of NFTs during the Super Bowl.
