Yuga Labs announces upcoming BAYC project mint

The introduction of The Trial of Jimmy the Monkey by Yuga Labs in December shocked the NFT community. The reveal, which will be a new chapter in the BAYC world, arrived in the form of a short film that told a unique and comical tale involving a key, a chest, and time-traveling apes.

While the NFT community has been scrambling to piece together the breadcrumbs left by Yuga Labs on – a new website established to track the ongoing expansion — today, more definitive information was disclosed. Yuga has released a skill-game challenge that relates to the Jimmy the Monkey tale arc, instead of the promised guide.

On January 18, Yuga will release “Dookey Dash,” a skill-based coin-minting game set in the sewers of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. To participate in the event, players must possess at least one Sewer Pass, an NFT that becomes available for a free claim on January 17 for all BAYC and MAYC owners. Even though only BAYC community members are eligible to claim, anyone who acquires a Sewer Pass through a secondary sale is permitted to participate.

Both the Sewer Pass and Dookey Dash pass will expire on February 8. Participants may play as many times as they choose within the timeframe, with Yuga emphasizing through Twitter that they must “play at least once and score greater than 0 to qualify for a Sewer Pass.” Verified Sewer Passes will be eligible to convert on February 15 into what Gary the Dog Prophet (a newer figure in the BAYC universe) refers to as “power sources” after completing the skill-based minting process.

Given the unknown nature of these power source, players will likely need to play the game to learn more, which will depend on what they find in the sewer, the barriers they clear, and how long they survive. Visit the official Yuga news blog or to learn more about Dookey Dash.
